Is Rhode Skincare Really Worth the Hype? I Put It to the Test

I kept seeing Rhode everywhere. Every other post was someone talking about “glazed skin” or showing a close-up of that soft glow. After a while I got curious. It was one of those things where you just want to see what the fuss is about. So I picked up a few products and tried them. Five in total.

My skin’s somewhere in the middle. It gets dry in winter and a bit shiny on the nose in summer. Sometimes red if I overdo things. I like simple skincare, so it's my top priority to consider only worthy skincare products, which automatically takes me to experiment with different ingredients and brands. Nothing too heavy. Nothing that smells strong or feels like layers sitting on my face.

Rhode’s easy to notice. The look of it is quiet and minimal. Beige bottles, smooth packaging, no clutter. Hailey Bieber started it, so it already had a huge following. The idea is pretty simple. Hydrate your skin. Protect the barrier. Keep things soft and calm. I wanted to know if it was more than just a nice aesthetic.

Peptide Glazing Fluid

This one is everywhere. The gel serum that’s supposed to give you that glazed look. When I first used it, I liked how it felt. Cool, smooth, a little sticky for a few seconds, then gone. My skin looked a bit fresher right after. After a week or so, it seemed softer, like the surface texture had evened out. It didn’t make me shiny. Just hydrated.

It’s not dramatic, but it does something. Layers well under makeup. Doesn’t feel heavy. I finished the bottle faster than expected though. Probably best for dry or normal skin. If you get oily, it might be too much on its own.

Pineapple Refresh Cleanser

This was the surprise for me. It’s a cleanser that turns from balm to lather. I wasn’t expecting to like it this much. It’s soft and gentle. Takes off sunscreen and light makeup without leaving my skin tight. After washing, my face just felt clean and balanced. Not squeaky. Not dry. There’s barely any scent, which I like.

Over time my skin stayed consistent. No weird dryness around the nose or chin. Just normal. It’s one of those products you end up using every day without thinking about it.

Barrier Restore Cream

This is the comfort product in the bunch. It’s creamy and rich but not heavy. I used it after the serum, sometimes morning, sometimes at night. The first thing I noticed was how calm my skin felt after. No redness, no dryness showing through. It leaves that soft finish that lasts a while. During the day it can be a bit much if it’s warm, so I use less then.

It doesn't have a strong scent. It's simple and clean. When my skin appears tired or feels strange, I reach for it. It's one of those creams that makes you skin back to normal. If you're already oily, it might be too rich, but it works well on dry days or in colder climates. Like a layer that truly stays, you can feel it settling in.

Glazing Milk

I was initially confused by this one. It is thin and milky, in between a serum and a toner. I didn't think it would accomplish anything. I honestly couldn't tell if it was helping the first few times I used it. After a while, I noticed that my skin had become a little duller and flatter.

I understand now. Underneath everything else, it simply keeps things hydrated. When it starts, it feels cool. Not sticky, not slick. It's one of those uninteresting steps that helps the rest of your routine go more smoothly. I only use it when my skin feels dry or tight, not every day.

Glazing Mist

The mist is simple. A few sprays when your skin feels tired or dry. The bottle gives a really soft mist, more like a cloud than a spray. I keep it near my desk. When the air feels heavy or I’ve been sitting too long, I just spritz it without thinking.

It doesn’t do anything major. Just makes you look a bit more alive. A touch of moisture, a hint of glow. The kind of product that’s more about comfort than results. I like it for that reason.

My Verdict

After a few weeks, I stopped trying to look for big changes. Rhode’s not built for that. It’s just… steady. Everything feels gentle, kind. My skin looked a bit more even, less dry, a little calmer.

The cleanser and cream are the ones I use the most. The glazing fluid is nice when I want extra glow. The milk and mist, I pull out when my skin feels off. None of it’s perfect, but together it works.

If you want simple, hydrated, healthy-looking skin, Rhode fits. If you like strong actives or matte finishes, you’ll probably get bored. For me, it made sense. It’s the kind of skincare you use quietly, without thinking too hard about it. And sometimes, that’s exactly what keeps your skin happy.
